In the process of using PTFE pipes, the aging of PTFE pipes cannot be ignored, and the performance of PTFE pipes will be reduced after aging, so how to prevent the aging of PTFE pipes?
1. The tape and rubber of PTFE pipe are vulcanized by sulfur vulcanization system. The heat resistance of its vulcanized rubber can be improved by reducing or eliminating the use of elemental sulfur, as this minimizes or eliminates polysulfur crosslinks and mainly generates monosulfur or disulfide crosslinks.
2. In order to get better heat resistance, peroxide should be used, because when peroxide is vulcanized, carbon-carbon cross-linkage with better thermal stability can be generated.
3. When using peroxide, special attention needs to be paid to other additives. For example, the choice of antioxidants needs to be more stringent, as many antioxidants can interfere with peroxide vulcanization.
When using peroxide to treat PTFE tubing, reduce the amount of acid packing to prevent the decomposition of peroxide cations that can lead to low vulcanization of the high-pressure hose (manifested as lower hardness, lower modulus, and higher compression set). The addition of basic compounds, such as zinc oxide or magnesium oxide, where possible, can often improve the crosslinking efficiency of the peroxide. There is also paraffin oil with better effect, and aromatic oil and solvent should be avoided.
